The Renault Kwid platform has been very successful for the company. Now, the French car company is adding the Kwid AMT to its lineup (Automatic). The dealers say that the cars will be delivered by the end of November, and they have already started taking reservations for Rs 10,000 as a sign of good faith. Even though Kwid AMT's price is not yet official, some reports say it will be around Rs 4.2 lakhs (ex-showroom).
At the 2016 Auto Expo, Renault showed off both the Kwid 1.0 and the Kwid 1.0 AMT. The Kwid 1.0 came out a few months ago, and customers again showed a lot of interest in it. The Kwid 1.0 AMT is next, and it will be officially released this month.
The 1.0-liter Sce engine that makes 70PS of max power and 91 Nm of max torque will power the Kwid AMT. A 5-Speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox will be in charge of the transmission. The company called this gearbox "Easy-R AMT" because it will have a Shift Control Dial to switch between Drive, Neutral, and Reverse. There is no Tiptronic option, so you can't change gears by hand like you can with regular AMT units. Renault will only offer the KWID AMT in the top-of-the-line RXT and RXT (O). So, it will be full of features like an airbag for the driver, a touchscreen infotainment unit, keyless entry, power windows in the front, etc. This Renault Hatchback will compete with cars like the $4,080,000 Maruti Suzuki Alto AMT (ex-showroom, Delhi)
